The Borno State Scholarship Board (BSSB) is inviting applications from bonafide indigenes of Borno State who have secured admission into accredited tertiary institutions within Nigeria and completed their first-year registration. This scholarship initiative is part of the state government’s commitment to promoting access to higher education for its citizens by reducing financial burdens.
Originally a division under the Ministry of Education, the Borno State Scholarship Board became autonomous in January 1989. Since then, the Board has been responsible for conducting interviews and awarding scholarships to qualified candidates from the state, as well as disbursing allowances to support their academic pursuits.
The bursary program provides eligible students with annual financial support, ensuring they remain focused on their education without being overwhelmed by financial constraints.
Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for the Borno State Scholarship 2025, applicants must:
- Be indigenes of Borno State
- Be first-year students at a:
- University (Part I & DE Part II),
- Polytechnic/College (ND or HND I), or
- College of Education (NCE I)
- Be fully registered students of their respective institutions
