Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has emerged as Africa’s leading university in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 — Clean Water and Sanitation — according to the 2025 Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Rankings.
This was announced in a statement issued by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Adetunji Adeleye, and made available to the Nigerian Tribune.
Adeleye revealed that Redeemer’s University secured first place among Nigerian institutions in four out of the six SDG categories in which it participated.
“Out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals evaluated by THE, Redeemer’s University submitted entries for six goals, namely: SDG 3 (Good Health and Wellbeing), SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 13 (Climate Action), SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals),” he stated.
The Times Higher Education Sustainability Rankings assess universities worldwide on their contributions to the United Nations SDGs, evaluating efforts in research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.
