Scholarship Details
The scholarship is offered through the Welti Arthropod Ecology Lab in the Department of Agriculture and Biology at Kansas State University, located in Manhattan, Kansas, USA.
Funded Master’s and PhD positions are available starting January 2026. Successful candidates will engage in cutting-edge field research focused on grassland arthropod biodiversity, ecological functions, and species interactions. The research will take place primarily at the Konza Prairie Biological Station, a renowned site for ecological studies.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in ecology, biology, or a related field by the time of hire
- Be enthusiastic about arthropod and/or grassland ecology
- Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Hold a valid driver’s license and be comfortable working outdoors in hot summer conditions
- Be willing to participate in both lab and field work, including processing arthropod samples
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in plant or arthropod fieldwork
- Taxonomic identification skills
- Familiarity with R programming and ecological statistics
- Previous research experience
