The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will release the results of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) resit for 379,000 candidates tomorrow.
The resit was organized after widespread complaints about technical issues and mass failures during the initial UTME. Following consultations with stakeholders and an official apology, JAMB Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede called for the resit, which mainly affected candidates from Lagos and the southeastern states. The rescheduled exam took place from Friday to Monday.
The initial UTME had over 1.9 million candidates, with more than 1.5 million scoring below 200 out of 400 marks, causing concern among education stakeholders.
Results from the initial exam showed that only 4,756 candidates (0.24%) scored 320 and above, while 7,658 candidates (0.39%) scored between 300 and 319. This means just 12,414 candidates (0.63%) scored 300 and above.
Other score ranges included 73,441 candidates (3.76%) scoring between 250 and 299, 334,560 (17.11%) between 200 and 249, and 983,187 candidates (50.29%) scoring between 160 and 199.
Additionally, 488,197 candidates (24.97%) scored between 140 and 159, 57,419 (2.94%) scored between 120 and 139, 3,820 (0.20%) scored between 100 and 119, and 2,031 candidates (0.10%) scored below 100.
