Scholarship Details
The Dry Bean Breeding & Computational Biology Lab in the Department of Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph is recruiting for two fully funded Master’s Graduate Research Assistantship positions beginning in Fall 2025.
This innovative research focuses on using multi-omics approaches—including genomics, epigenomics, and hyperspectral imaging—to explore the mechanisms of seed coat color stability and darkening in cranberry and pinto beans.
Since seed coat darkening reduces market value and consumer acceptance of dry beans, the goal of this project is to identify genetic and epigenetic markers that will help plant breeders develop stable, non-darkening varieties.
