The McGill University Graduate Scholarship seeks highly motivated MSc and PhD candidates to join a leading research group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
The research team focuses on power system stability, security, and resilience. Using data-driven methods combined with domain expertise in power systems, the team is developing advanced tools and algorithms to address emerging challenges in modern electric grids. These include integrating diverse energy sources, managing risks from smart cyber assets, and adapting to the impact of climate change.
The ultimate objective is to enhance the security and reliability of power systems under normal conditions, during uncertainty, and during extreme events.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the McGill University Graduate Scholarship, applicants must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
- Have a solid foundation in linear algebra, differential equations, probability, statistics, and topics related to power systems
- Be knowledgeable in areas such as power system operation, stability, and optimization
- Be proficient in relevant technical tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, Python, DSATools, PSS/E, RT-LAB, or PSCAD
- Have prior research experience (through thesis or publications), which will be considered an added advantage
