Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, a 17-year-old student from Yobe State, has emerged World Best in English Language Skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.
Representing Nigeria through the Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Nafisa outperformed over 20,000 contestants from 69 countries, securing a prestigious global academic honour for both her state and the nation.
The TeenEagle competition is a renowned international contest that evaluates students’ abilities in English language, critical thinking, and communication, drawing participants from English and non-English-speaking countries alike.
Her victory was confirmed by her family head, Hassan Salifu, who praised Nafisa’s discipline and hard work, while also acknowledging the role of the Yobe State Government. “This global success would not have been possible without the visionary support of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni. His dedication to education has brought international pride to Yobe and Nigeria,” he stated.
Salifu further noted that Nafisa’s exceptional performance stood out even against students from native English-speaking countries — a feat he described as proof of her brilliance and strong preparation.
The win has sparked celebration across Yobe and beyond, with her family expressing deep appreciation to Governor Buni and the academic team at NTIC. “Nafisa’s triumph is a clear reflection of what quality investment in education can achieve. Governor Buni’s efforts have elevated both our schools and our global image,” the family added.
